Roulette is one of the oldest and most popular casino games around. It can be played at almost every online casino. This is a game that involves betting on the outcome of a ball that is released around the spinning Roulette wheel. Bets are placed on where players think the ball may land by strategically placing chips on the betting table.
There are very few different versions of this popular casino game and the main two that dominate the field are American Roulette and European Roulette. The American Roulette wheel has two green zeros whereas the European (traditional) version has just one green zero. For the purpose of this review, we will refer to European roulette.
The roulette wheel is divided into 37 different slots. 16 of the slots are red, 16 of the slots are black, which leaves just one green zero. The roulette wheel is spun and then the ball is released to spin around the wheel several times. When the ball eventually gives in to gravity, it will come to rest randomly in one of the slots, completing one game of roulette. Before the ball has been released, the player will get a short amount of time to place a bet using the betting table that is neatly laid out with various different types of bets. Players will win a prize if they manage to guess correctly where the ball finally lands and the most popular bet is Red or Black. This is the simplest bet and if you guessed correctly, you will have odds of 1:1, meaning that you will receive double your stake back. Therefore, bet CA$1.00 on black (or red) and your full returns for a correct guess will be CA$2.00 (winning CA$1.00).
Players can place a bet by hovering over a certain area of the table and clicking how many chips you would like for that bet. Each betting table is divided into various sections that include rows and columns. In the first section, you will find the numbers 1 to 12. The second section contains 13 to 24 and the last section contains the numbers 25 to 36. Placing a bet on the ball landing in any one of these sections will give you odds of 2:1 and is called betting on a Dozen.
Players can also place a bet on individual numbers which will normally give you odds of 35:1. This has the highest odds and is known as a Straight Up bet. Players could halve these odds and place a Split Bet, which means that you must strategically place the chip on the line that divides two numbers. The odds here are 17:1. The next bet offering odds of 11:1 is when players place a bet on what is known as a Street Bet. Players can place their chip on the outside of three numbers in the hope that one of these numbers will come in. If (for example) you place your chip on the outside line of number 13, you will win if the ball stops on 13, 14 or 15. A column bet pays odds of 2:1 and there are other simple bets like the red/black bet, which include Odd/Even, 1 to 18, or 19 to 26. Each of these bets also has odds of 1:1.
