Author Spotlight: Chris Paynter

Paynter_high_rezThe Lone Star LesFic Festival is happy to welcome Chris Paynter! This will be her first appearance at our festival.

Chris Paynter writes character-driven stories about the enduring hope of everlasting love. She is the author of five novels with Blue Feather Books, including the Playing for First baseball series. Her Survived by Her Longtime Companion was a 2013 Lambda Literary Award Finalist and winner of the 2013 Ann Bannon Popular Choice Award. Her short stories have appeared in two anthologies: Regal Crest’s Women in Uniform: Medics and Soldiers and Cops, Oh My! (2010) and Cleis Press’s Love Burns Bright: A Lifetime of Lesbian Romance (2013). Her next romance, To Love Free, is scheduled for a June 2014 release. After earning a bachelor’s degree in journalism, Chris worked as a general assignment reporter and sportswriter until accepting her current position as the editorial specialist to a law journal. A sports junkie, she can be found screaming at the TV during a Colts game or living vicariously through her Cincinnati Reds. She resides in Indianapolis with her wife, Phyllis, and their beagle, Buddy the Wonder Dog, also fondly known as “He who must be obeyed.” When not writing or editing for Blue Feather Books, Chris loves to get lost in a good romance.
